Mayrose Wegmann

Mayrose Wegmann is a union organizer and Democratic Party strategist specializing in community organizing, education and labor policy, and contract negotiations. She has been a behind the scenes catalyst in key roles on presidential, congressional, gubernatorial, state legislative, and local races.

Mayrose is currently serving in a senior leadership role as Northwest Region Director at NJEA, the largest labor union in the state of New Jersey. Prior to this role, she worked for 15 years at NEA, the nation’s largest labor union. While at NEA, she worked on successful collective bargaining, legislative, or electoral campaigns in Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Washington, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. 

Mayrose has more than 20 years of experience as a political strategist and campaign manager.  She recently worked as an Advance Advisor on the Harris Walz campaign in Georgia, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. 

Mayrose attended the University of Iowa where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science. While at Iowa, she was elected Vice President of the student body. In this advocacy role, she became a national spokesperson for college affordability where she contributed for CNN, NPR, USA Today, The Washington Post, and US News and World Report.   

Mayrose also holds graduate certificates in Labor Relations and Management from Rutgers and Cornell Universities.  She earned her Masters Degree in Public Affairs and Politics at Rutgers University’s Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy. While at Rutgers, she was awarded the Eagleton Institute for Politics and Government Graduate Fellowship.

She is an avid yoga practitioner and enjoys traveling in search of the world’s best beach.
