Erik Cruz Morales
Erik Cruz Morales (he/him) is a recognized leader in democracy and immigration advocacy in New Jersey. He currently serves as Director of Democracy at the League of Women Voters of New Jersey, where he leads statewide efforts to protect voting rights, expand civic participation, and advance equitable public policy.
Previously, Erik served as Policy and Advocacy Manager at the New Jersey Alliance for Immigrant Justice (NJAIJ), where he spearheaded comprehensive advocacy and lobbying strategies that contributed to the passage and implementation of major immigration and social justice reforms at the state level. Prior to NJAIJ, he was a Program Associate and Philanthropy Fellow at The Fund for New Jersey, a private foundation based in Princeton, where he supported nonprofit organizations advancing policy solutions in affordable housing, environmental justice, immigrant rights, and racial justice across the state.
Erik holds a Master of Public Administration with a concentration in Leadership for Public Organizations from Rutgers University–Newark. He currently serves on the Rutgers University Alumni Board, representing more than 600,000 alumni, and on the New Jersey Leadership Collective Board, where he co-chairs the Selections Committee.
In 2018, Erik’s personal immigration story was included in an amicus curiae brief submitted to the Supreme Court of the United States in support of DACA recipients, underscoring his long-standing commitment to immigrant justice. A resident of Essex County, New Jersey, Erik is deeply committed to advancing policies that improve the lives of all New Jersey residents, regardless of immigration status.
