Elesia L. James, Esq. is an attorney serving the largest school district in New Jersey, Newark Board of Education. She is also a per diem Instructor for New Jersey Child Welfare Training Partnership and the Vice President of North Brunswick Township Board of Education for which she has been a member since January 2021. Elesia has represented various school districts and municipalities throughout the State of New Jersey having most recently served Trenton Board of Education as Assistant General Counsel for five years. In her decade-plus experience navigating complex legal and organizational challenges, she has evolved as a contributor and leader who approaches issues with logic, structure, integrity, and emotional intelligence. Elesia is passionate about being a change agent within the State of New Jersey as evidenced by her public life where she champions causes to advance student achievement, promote fairness, balance interests of stakeholders, and advocate for vulnerable populations and marginalized communities.
Elesia earned her Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, from Temple University, a Paralegal Certificate from Long Island University – Brooklyn, and her Juris Doctor degree from Rutgers School of Law in Camden, NJ. Elesia enjoys being a proud auntie, travel, fitness, nurturing her plant babies, reading/audiobooks, and music.
