Diego Mazariego
Class of 2025
Diego Fernando Mazariego is the Vice President of Tonio Burgos & Associates (TBA) in New Jersey. He has over five years of public service experience, which includes two years in state politics and three years with the federal government.
Diego served as a Legislative Aide and Community Outreach Coordinator for Assemblywoman Quijano in Legislative District 20. He also held the position of Chief of Staff to Assemblyman Gabriel Rodriguez in Legislative District 33 in Hudson County. In this role, he assisted the freshman legislator with budget proposals that secured vital funding for the district, established the office, and connected the team with key organizations in the state. Additionally, he initiated legislation to benefit the residents of LD-33 and played a significant role in supporting the Latino Legislative Caucus by organizing events and meetings.
Furthermore, Diego spent three years working with the U.S. Senate as a Constituent Advocate and Outreach Advisor. He focused on issues related to the State Department and the Foreign Relations Committee, managing portfolios that included transportation, healthcare, education, the environment, diversity, equity, inclusion, as well as outreach to Latino and AAPI communities.
As an immigrant from El Salvador, Diego arrived in the United States at the age of nine with his parents and brother. He is committed to pursuing the American Dream. Throughout his public service career, he has advocated for legislation that benefits not only the immigrant community but also the residents of New Jersey as a whole.
Diego graduated with his associates degree from Hudson County Community College in 2014, his bachelor's degree from Kean University in 2019 and earned his master’s degree from Rutgers University in 2022.
